¡Hola amig@s! My name is Betsabé D. Castro Escobar, my friends call me Betsy. I was born and raised in the tropical gem of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean. Since I can remember, as a native islander I have always been fascinated by nature. As an undergraduate I received a very holistic formation in the disciplines of Botany, Ecology, Anthropology, and Conservation Biology. After years of pondering how I could combine my passions for biological and social sciences.  Now, with a master’s in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Missouri. My research as a graduate student aligns with the fields of ethnobotany, language endangerment, biocultural diversity conservation, and traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) systems, focused primarily in the Americas. I have always considered that education is the main tool of empowerment a person can have and for that reason I would like to dedicate my life to educate others, as well as myself. I have been a member of LGPN since August 2013 and am currently the treasurer in the executive board. So if you have $$$$ questions, I am your girl. =D
